Does anyone here that has synesthesia find it awkward to talk to their families about the colors and stuff?
i still do.
my mom was trying to pick out a pair of shoes and i told her to go with the pink and gray ones cus they matched her personality more than the colors of the other ones, but it felt so awkward to tell her that… (luckily she was leaning more towards that pair anyway)
is it hard for anyone else here?

So my friend was talking about random things, and somehow, she mentioned the fact that there is a type of rum that happens to be the color red. She has not red the Shining. I freaked out. She asks me why, and I ask her what rum that is red (I refuse to type it) spells backwards. Well, the violin has some pros and cons to it…if you have the right size violin and if you are willing to play…then I think you’ll be pretty good at it…but since you have synesthesia, I bet it’s harder to play the violin…

I do, too, but my parents are musical perfectionists and die when they hear a mistake and therefore don’t want me playing and don’t pay for it. Instead I photograph and draw and climb trees and build things with my robotics kit. That’s how I keep busy. That and reading and Doctor Who.

My dad’s a physisict, he’s also a professor and scientist and entrepreneur. Do you read Popular Science or Scientific American? I love those two magazines, and he’s been in both more than once. I can’t say who he is (safety) but he’s pretty well known.
I want to either be a mechanical engineer and work in the optics section of physics, or work with astrophysics, which my dad and I’ve had lot’s of interesting conversations on. I usually spend them trying to find loopholes in the theory of relativity that’d let people travel back in time, and he usually explains how they don’t work.
